What is a permit?
A permit is like renting a bit of land from the local council to place your skip on.
How do I know if I need a permit?
If any skip has to go on an area of ground owned or maintained by the council, as a rule of thumb you will need one.
How much is a permit and how long does this last?
This depends on the council. Typically a permit lasts between 1 and 2 weeks. You can have a number of skip exchanges during the course of this time and tends to cost around £50
Who organises the permit?
we organise the permit for you.
What we DO NOT accept in skips
The best answer to what can be put in a skip is to list what cannot be put in a skip. Here are the most common items that cannot be disposed of in a skip:
- Clinical or medical waste, including syringes
- Electrical appliances & equipment
- Fluorescent tubes
- Fridges, freezers and air conditioning units
- Gas canisters and gas bottles
- Hazardous & toxic materials
- Oil, petrol, diesel
- Paint & Cans of paint
- TVs & computer screens
Are there any access issues for skip lorries?
As a guide, skip lorries are normally at least 8.5 feet wide and some as wide as 9.5 feet. The skip will need to be placed on the road and you will require a skip permit if:
- the entrance to your property is not wide enough for that sort of vehicle
- the ground cannot support at least 7.5 tonnes
